Training and Classes

In the workshops and classes, you will learn gentle movements and effective meditation techniques that will help you to reduce your stress, improve your health, and activate your healing ability. Don't forget to check out our list of Local Workshops.

Qi Gong – Tai Chi classes are taught by our association's instructors at the following locations in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada:

Level 1 Classes –
(Beginner Training)


Cost: $45 for 4 training sessions.

This training includes an introduction to some basic theory in Qi Gong as well as detailed instructions on how to do the following movements:

Qi cultivation, warm up exercises, diaphragmatic breathing, some acupressure techniques, Health Investment Qi Gong – see Heath Investment article and Three Treasures Qi Gong – see Three Treasures Qi Gong article

Saturdays
Training for new participants will be given several times a year when there are enough people registered to hold the classes. These classes will usually begin on the first Saturday of the month.

After completing the Beginner Training (or the Acupressure and Qi Gong classes below), you can attend the ongoing Level 1 classes at McNabb Recreation Centre.

Cost: $10 per session on a drop-in basis.

Some experience with Tai Chi, Qi Gong, martial arts or yoga is required. Elements of both Qi Gong and Kung Fu will help to increase your co-ordination of mind and body in order to improve your energy level and self defence abilities. Advanced Class

Cost: $10 on a drop-in basis. This class will not be held on those days that there are workshops or training sessions being held.
In order to attend this class, you are required to take the training session for the Bridge and Wild Goose as they are practiced in the Advanced Class. Other exercises done include: Lion’s Mane, Liver Cleansing, Kidney Cleansing, and Still Fish Dance. McNabb Recreation Centre

Bridge Qi Gong Training

Wild Goose Qi Gong Training

Cost: $60 for 4 classes

Detailed instruction on a Qi Gong form called the Wild Goose will be taught. This form involves movements similar to some forms of Tai Chi, but is more beneficial for your overall health. Attendance at 4 or more Level 1 ongoing practice classes is required before this training can be taken. McNabb Recreation Centre

Instructors: Master Philip Lai and associates, Ron and Sue, of the National LAMAS Qi Gong Association of Canada. Master Lai has 30 years of experience instructing Qi Gong and martial art classes. A survey of the students who took the Beginner Training at McNabb Recreation Centre in January 2010, indicated that they were very satisfied with the level of knowledge and experience of the instructors as well as the presentation of the theory and exercises.
